‘PAINLESS’ has the intimate feel of a soundcloud discovery. It feeds appropriate materials through standard machinery, but is stippled by the magnetism and smart ideas of its maker. This is an album of moments; the moments just happen to be wholly mesmerising. Yanya’s ear for structure is no more striking than on ‘shameless’ and ‘stabilise’ which pour into your ear what I imagine will remain some of the most textured guitar and drum arrangements this year. This record possesses breathtaking architecture and ’90s lax. The first touch may be more flavoursome than the aftertaste, but good lord does it contain something special.
