hiroshi yoshimura – GREEN

‘Green,’ is about re-enchanting the environment. The pace of the record is its mark, permitting an unchallenging, unhurried listen. The warm tone rising from that pulse allows Yoshimura to introduce textures in a way that feels organic and free – it’s a faithful rendering of nature’s impulses. The package is provocative in the lightest of ways. Yoshimura’s suggestion that “the levels of sound and music in the environment have exceeded man’s capacity to assimilate them” can be heard here. It put me in mind of Margaret Mead: “recognise and respect earth’s beautiful systems of balance.” More, she says, we must understand how the actions of people can disturb those systems.
