Ms. Sancha is a fictional character created by Low Profile Records and played by Diamonique. In 2003, she spoke about sex with as much detail and honesty as anyone else in gangster rap. ‘Taking it Doggystyle’ features production typical of the era, with a serrated voice sharpened by X-rated content. Though the project is somewhat one-dimensional, it fulfils each of its intentions with consistency and frisky bluntness. Doja Cat mentioned ‘Try Me’ as a defining inspiration, but the record’s wider influence is confined to those lucky enough to find it themselves. One thing is clear: all of the tracks are as lyrically unafraid as anything before or since.
